Ah, the joys of meditation.

Have you ever done it?  There’s nothing glamorous or exciting about sitting alone with your own mind but it must be done!  Why?  Really?  Do I have to?
If you want anything in life – to be thin, to attract your Soul mate, to be happy, healthy, prosperous, successful – you must first go within to discover who you truly are.

By going inside, you’ll realize that all that you desire already exists within you. This will allow you to stop holding your desire to be thin, healthy, happy, energized, in love, successful etc. at arms length.  Nothing is far from you, because YOU are the only thing that exists when you go within.

Problems and feelings of “not good enough”, “not thin enough”, “not _____ enough” cannot be solved with more human thinking, rationalizing, and action. When we overthink, struggle and strain to solve something we actually cause more pain, suffering, separation, confusion and negativity.  Einstein said something to the effect of “insanity is believing you can change something with the same mentality that created it.”

If you are stuck with your weight, unhappy in your body, obsessed about food, the number on the scale, or resisting anything, you are contributing to the problem in a major way.  Your focus on the problem is expanding it beyond belief and making it even worse!

Going within is very simple, easy and doable. You don’t need anything! You don’t need to take a class (unless you want to), you don’t need a special outfit, or cushion, or anything.  All you need to do is, do it!  Start today.

The only thing that may be useful is a timer – any old kitchen timer, or even the alarm on your cell phone will do – just to keep you accountable and so as not to distract you from looking at a clock.

Ok.  I’m going to do it.  Tell me what to do….
First, decide where. You can sit on the floor, in a chair, on your bed, in nature, in the bathtub – wherever.  Set your timer for 5 minutes and just sit.  Watch your breath come in and out.  Or feel your belly rise and fall.  Keep it simple!  You don’t need a mantra, an affirmation or a specific breathing technique.  Keep it simple.  Just sit and be.

You may find that your mind is going wild — that’s ok. Just sit with it and watch it, as if you’re watching a movie, without attachment to the outcome.  You don’t need to do anything!  Just watch the antics of the mind.

It can be funny, sad, boring, but it is not you. Stay still, the antics of the mind will play out and then you will get to watch and feel the truth within you emerge.  The key is to just watch, don’t attach.  Just watch.  See it for what it is.  You are not your thoughts.  You are not your body.  You are not your mind. Just watch.

Relaxing your jaw, softening your forehead, breathing, being, watching for just 5 minutes a day will help you discriminate between truth and fear. Your center will strengthen, peace will overcome you.  You will grow stronger.  You will feel love and your old ways of separation, loneliness, anxiety, fear and obsession will fade away.

As you begin to act from your center, instinctively you will choose the foods which are most highly aligned with your unique body and Soul. When you go within, you learn to listen to, honor, trust and respect your body as truth.  The weight will fall off.  The fear will fade.  You will be light!

As you grow in your quiet time, you may find yourself desiring more 5 minute sessions. It feels good!

Whenever a struggle arises – someone says something that hurts your feelings, you get sad, or angry, or bored, or tired, or lonely, or anxious, or fearful – anything that triggers you and takes you off your center, go within.  Before you go and eat, talk, smoke, have a beer, watch tv, exercise, or do whatever you do to escape or numb out, STOP and go within.  Be with yourself for 5 minutes.  Feel it.  Watch it.  Allow it. Because you can not run, you can not hide.  You have to look at it.  You’ve got to feel it, to heal it!

Then watch it fade away as you go deeper and deeper within.

Everything that you could possibly need, want or have is within your very being right now. Stop looking outside of yourself for the answers.  Nobody has it but you.  It is not in just one of us, it’s in ALL of us.

The time is NOW to go within. You can NOT afford to waste another minute of your precious life escaping, running, hiding, searching.  It is so very simple and easy.  Go within!  Do it – now!
